Frontline experience

Our trainers are skilled emergency response practitioners, highly experienced across fire and rescue, health and safety, security, emergency first response (medical) and forestry sectors.

Qualified to help

Our NZQA accredited subsidiary company Industry Training Works Ltd has consent to assess and delivers NZQA unit standards leading to nationally recognised qualifications.

We are also a pre-qualified CPNZ contractor, the new pan-industry ‘seal of approval’ for contractors. New Zealand’s captains of industry now insist on CPNZ pre-qualification.

EMS was the first emergency response company in New Zealand to be pre-qualified to the new CPNZ best-practise standard, and achieved a very high CPNZ score.

We are members of EMQUAL – the body that governs New Zealand’s Emergency Management Qualifications. Fellow members include the New Zealand Defence Force, New Zealand Fire Service, Royal New Zealand Coastguard, etc. We are one of only a few private organisations who are members.

Duration: 1 Day

This course provides the minimum content for people managing first aid in the workplace, and those who seek the OSH recognition as a ‘First Aider'.

A ‘First Aider’ will be able to assess a scene, identify threats to their safety and the safety of others and take steps to respond to life threatening situations.

Who should attend:

  • People seeking to be designated Workplace ‘First Aiders'.

  • People seeking first aid skills more advanced than introductory.

  • Those who feel they will be able to assist as ‘responders' to a workplace or general emergency.

Unit Standards 26551: Provide first aid for life threatening conditions and 26552: Demonstrate knowledge of common first aid conditions.

Please note: These Unit Standards have recently replaced 6400, 6401 and 6402. We can still train to these Units if you wish.
